Tapping Away

You'll be pleased to know that I've been tapping away at the keyboard to try and make my pre-Christmas publishing deadline for Seducing Coach. It's at 40,000 words, so it's coming along nicely. I think that I should finish it off early this week and then have to go back and edit it.

Hopefully that means that it will be published around the 22nd or so. Cutting it fine but working hard!

In other news, I hear that Nikki Dark is working to turn out another work soon as well. Likely sometime early in the new year. I know that there are fans waiting for that too!

Oh and in other good news, Nikkirotica 1 now ha 5 reviews which when you filter to erotica and highest rated get's me to page 5. One more 5 star review would get me all the way up to page 3! *hint hint*

Seducing Coach

Thanks to those of you that let me know your preference for the next book. It was unanimous for Seducing Coach and so I am now very actively trying to bring that to completion so that I can publish before Christmas.

I'm sure people are wondering what I am up to and when the next book will be out. I am still working on Seducing Coach and the office story that I hope to publish soon. I'm not sure if I can get them out in time for Christmas, but perhaps i'll make that the target.

An appeal

Have you bought one of my books? Have you reviewed it? Out of curiousity I was looking at the top books by rating. Nikkirotica 1 appears on like page 9 or something with 4 excellent reviews. Another one or two good reviews and 5 star ratings and it would move significantly forward in that list.

So ... here's the appeal - please review and rate my work if you've bought it. I'll provide you with a surprise if you do!

Now clearly 5 stars would be preferred, but I'd hate to think that anyone felt pressured to rate my work so high. If you can't give 5, be honest :) or ... save it for another time? Hehe.

I'm also very close to my first 'dark side' book being published. Still debating whether that will be here or not though.

Where to put it?

For those of you that have found yourselves here via Lit, you will know some (a lot?) of my stories venture into themes that aren't as run as the mill as everyday erotica. I am close to publishing one of those stories and am stuck with the question of whether to publish it under this name or to use a pen name to separate my 'darker' work from that which I have happily published here.

I'm not sure whether having the even kinkier stuff mixed here will put off people that aren't prepared to read it from reading everything I publish and so shouldn't put it here. The other question is will that work prove more popular and hence do I lose traffic through these works because they're not linked.

It's a bit of a dilemma. I'm very close to publishing that third, kinky book and so will have to decide very soon.

If I do separate the themes, I'll be sure to link to them through Lit so that they can be tracked. I'll also link back to my works as me, Nikki from those books. I just don't know about linking the other way.

Oh and Seducing Coach is still in development. I certainly haven't abandoned it!

Rookie Error

I just found out today that I made a rookie error with the Partner Swap. I decided to change some of the names before I published the book. I thought that I'd managed to do a thorough replacement, but today I was informed that the names changed shortly through the book.

Talk about embarrassed. That's why I used an editor for my first book. Unfortunately the cost of doing so hasn't yet seen me turn a profit on my work and so for the second book I decided to self-edit. Guess I didn't quite get that right!

Anyway, I have re-checked and re-loaded the book, so if you already own a copy, please re-download it so that you have the latest and greatest!

If you do happen to detect errors in any of my work, I am certainly appreciative of finding out so that I get the opportunity to correct them

Fixed

Just a quick note to say that I have now properly fixed the font sizing issues with The Partner Swap so now it is available at iTunes and other mediums as well as Smashwords. So if you want the nice shiny clean one (not sure that I ever really worked out if there was a serious problem or not) please down load it :)

Rejected!

So Smashwords has this meatgrinder thing which takes the file I submit and turns it into the various forms in which the book is published. The first book that I published had no problem and went straight through.

The second one seemed to have been fine, but then was rejected for premium status. Apparently there were some style issues that would mean that when it published there would be different sized fonts in different parts of the book.

All that doesn't mean much other than if you were one of the first four people that bought my book, that may be a glitch that you notice. Or you may not. I have, however hopefully fixed this and uploaded a version that shouldn't have this trouble. So you may like to download the newer version (I don't believe it costs any extra).

Second Book!

Surprise! I bet no-one quite expected me to get it up this quick! I've been productive this weekend and finished off one of those stories that has been bubbling around for a while.

I hope that you all buy it and enjoy it, I was kind of surprised when I managed to finish this one ahead of Seducing Coach. I guess that may now be the next one for me to pull my finger out and finish. Really I'm just having too much fun with it and it keeps getting longer, so at least that's a good thing to look forward to!

Inspiration

I am often asked if my stories are from real life. The answer is yes ... and no. So what inspires me then?

The answer to that is all sorts of funny things. I once wrote an entire story after seeing a girl at the airport. She leaned forward over a rail on her tip toes and her bum looked so good. That lead to me imagining her getting on the plane with some lonely businessman having seen what I'd seen. And that lead to a lot more.

Another time it was a girl walking in front of me in a short skirt on a railway station. A gust of wind showed me her underwear .. and a story was born.

The pool table story came to me after a night at a pool hall. I was watching these two gorgeous guys playing on the next table .. fantasising.

Caravan Park Roulette ... comes from a place I holiday. I've often stood in the shower looking at the gap under the door, wondering what would happen if I snuck into the men's after some hot guy ....

So that's a glimpse of the glimpses that inspire me :)

Another distraction

I am torn. I keep having ideas for stories and so keep getting distracted and instead of just finishing one off, I find myself splitting my time between my different works.

It means that there's several things in the works, but none of them are as finished as i'd like. There's the Seducing coach that I mentioned previously. I thought it was finished, but then I re-read it and decided that the girls needed to move from indoor volleyball to some summer fun. Have you seen those girls in their beach vollebyall outfits? Damn!

 It's certainly enough to inspire one to write :)

But then I also have a story that I am 90% of the way through where four friends go away on a fishing trip and end up swapping partners and generally having a much better time than they'd planned. I had finished it with one of the characters missing out on the group scene and was going to leave it at that, but it just wasn't the natural end to the story ... so I have to write more.

Focus focus focus. That's what I need!

Seducing Coach

I know that I said my next book release was likely to be an office based series of stories, but I tend to be a little flighty in how I go about things. I start writing a story, get most of the way through, then get an idea that captures my mind and wander off on a tangent.

So it was that I was thinking about my volleyball story. Where do you progress from a couple of horny girls seducing their volleyball coach? Why to the beach of course! That's why I am currently tapping away at the keyboard to bring this to life!

Hopefully I can get through it quicker than some of my latest efforts so that you can have another taste of my dirty imagination!

So close

No, I haven't forgotten! I am actually getting very very close. The last piece of what I needed to publish, an IBSN has been arranged. Now it is just a matter of putting all the pieces together and submitting to Smashwords.

The target to do this is the 11th of October!

Progress!

Ok, so I now have all my edited material, a cover and am just waiting on the ISBN and then ... voila! Time to publish. I am very excited and really hoping that people will buy, enjoy AND recommend my book to others.

Closer and closer

It seems like it takes many tiny steps to reach the point where the publishing happens, but I've managed to take another one. Caravan Park Roulette has been edited! Soon people, soon it will be available. I am very excited.

Book Cover

Here's what I am thinking of as the cover for my first book ...

I am still not convinced of the title. All the stories in it have group scenes which was part of the inspiration. I'm not sold on it yet though.

Editing

I heard from my editor this week and hopefully he can squeeze me in to my busy schedule. Then, a cover, some design work to meet the Smashwords style guide and hopefully ... a book!

I haven't given up!

I know that if anyone actually follows this (I know there's one of you!) then you may be thinking that I've given up. I certainly haven't. The stories that I've selected to put in my first little collection are with my editor and I am waiting to get them back.

I just need to get truly sorted to actually receive money for them and of course come up with a cover for the book. And a title.

If anyone reads this and has a suggestion for a title for a collection of short erotic stories, please feel free to either comment or email them to me.

I was thinking Nikki's Erotic Shorts, but I'm not convinced that is the best title. When I publish my tennis stories, I intend to go with Lust, Set and Match. I am sure that I had something fun thought up for an office based book (or work related at least) but of course now that I want to capture it, can't remember. I must get better at writing these things down!

Targetting a time line

Ok, so I managed to finish the Caravan Park story - Hooray! Now I just have this little issue that my editor is away until some time in July. So that sets me a target, choose some stories, write some more, get it edited, get a book cover ...

Let's aim for August 12th for my first ever self published e-book. Ambitious? Maybe, but hell, I will get such a thrill if I can get it out there ... especially if you buy it :)

Writing again

I've managed to start writing again and am two thirds of a way through a little romp about some girls that get up to some fun in a caravan park with a game they like to call caravan park roulette. I'll probably post a little of it on literotica ... just for a tease ;)

Time is of the essence

The most frustrating thing that I have found since setting myself on this path is finding the time to write more of what I'd like. It's incredibly frustrating having a nice erotic idea rattling around in your head and simply not being able to find the time to capture the words on paper.

Between that and trying to re-edit some of my older works (and add to them to make it worth people's while to spend a dollar or two on the story even if they've read it before) I quite simply can't seem to get it together with the speed i'd like.

Settling on a start

Ok, so I think that I've managed to decide where to start. I think that I'll work through some of my old office and work based stories for something of a series and add some bits and pieces so that there's something extra for those that are prepared to fork out a dollar or two.

I was going back and editing the Dentist story that I wrote and noticed that I left it hanging with a need for Amy to make one more trip back to the hot dentist and his assistant. I also left it pretty clear that the receptionist was a potential addition to the mix.

So I'm thinking that there's a bit to add and then maybe I have my first short story. Then I just need to come up with a cover.

I worry that if I self edit I'll miss something and put people off my future work, but that if I pay an editor, I won't make my money back. You'd think that with the number of people that have read my work on lit that I'd have more confidence, but in the back of my mind I can't help but think ... will they pay for it?

How long

That's the question that I keep asking myself. How long is it going to take me to get something actually published. How much should I invest in a cover? I'm sure that if it costs me $50 and I can sell enough then it won't seem like much, but when you live day to day and don't know what your return will be, well it seems a lot to fork out.

I think I need to concentrate on getting something ready to be published, then the art, then the actual publishing process.

Journey

So I think I've managed to find myself an editor, someone that has done some proof-reading for me in the past. It's a good starting point and if things go well, should accelerate the process of getting something published.

What I really need to find is someone to do some good cover art for me.

I am looking at publishing some of my previous works along with new content to get the ball rolling. I'm thinking an office series is in order ... capturing work related stories and also possibly a tennis series.

Not sure where things stand with publishing when celebrities/sports stars are involved. I should probably do some research:0

It all starts somewhere ...

So here we go. I've been writing erotica for some 10 years or so now, starting as something that I exchanged with certain special friends and then later, shared via a wider audience. I've been told many times that I should publish and so ... here we go.

I am going to publish at Smashwords in the near future. I have some editing to do first though. Some of my older works will be published for free to give people a taste of what I write. Newer works ... well, we'll see how it all goes.

For now, this is all just a teaser until I can find some time and get things moving.
